Design Challenge
The client’s need is to introduce the latest series from Mimori, namely Gapyeong Glow, which is the first glow in the dark series in Indonesia.
Design Approach & Strategy
The concept is a video that shows the emotional value of Gapyeong Glow claws, using the analogy of beautiful and bright light coming from outer space and then descending to earth. The concept is executed by combining 3D Animation, 2D Animation, and Illustration. Gapyeong Glow is not only the first glow-in-the-dark hair claw product, but also the first hair claw brand to use product advertising with 3D animation. so that it can be a differentiator from competitors.
Tools & Techniques Used
Blender for 3D Animation, 3D Texturing, 3D Environment and 3D Rendering. After Effect for compositing.
Design Process
The process began with discussion with the team to create concept ideation and mood boards. The first step is creating 3D Modeling for product and environment. Then develop the texture, animation, effect and combine. for the key milestone is to emphasize the visual appearance of the glow in the dark hair claw to look more prominent when applied in advertising.
Visual Design Solutions
The final design features the Mimori hair claw as the main composition, the combination of 3D animation and epic music makes the product look more elegant, high quality, beautiful and shining. We also focus on the 3D visual product, ensuring the product stands out and spoils the eyes of people who watch the advertisement as an effort to introduce the brand while fulfilling the client’s goal to increase product appeal, make a new breakthrough (the first Jedai glow in the dark in Indonesia) and differentiate their products.
Challenges and Iterations
There were two challenges, creating texture and managing animation keyframe. Therefore, several prototypes were made to make sure we got the color and texture as realistic as they could be. For the animation keyframe, the right timing was needed for the customers to be able to properly see and identify the object showcased to be the product instead of a mere meteor.
